Per Götesson SS19

For SS19, Per Götesson took inspiration from writing and rewriting memories for his solo catwalk debut – having previously shown three collections as part of the MAN platform.

This time round, models entered through a raised platform decorated with vintage lampshades and draped in lace and patterned curtains. The show notes told us that Götesson’s mother and grandmother wove and embroidered fabrics attached to the back of his draped structural denim jackets–the set further reinforced his celebration of the intimacy of domesticity.

Fragments of broken plates featured as necklaces and were attached to bags, referencing the fleeting and obscured nature of memory. Similarly, cutlery was attached to caps and jackets, signaling that everyday thoughts are continuously carried by the wearer. In terms of stand-out silhouettes, billowing trousers were held up by contrasting strap belts, highlighting Götesson’s commitment to reinterpreting functional menswear.
