The designer, Amanda Wakeley is known for her elegance in form of clean lines and simplicity – sticking to what she does best, she celebrated the label’s 25th birthday at London Fashion Week with her SS16 collection inspired by architecture.

Who knew that womenswear and architecture could look so polished and sleek – Amanda Wakeley clearly knows how to make it work. Inspired by the the architect and sculptor Santiago Calatrava’s combination of both natural and human forms together with delicacy and strength. Wakeley translated Calatrava’s aesthetic into contrasts of sheerness, density, solidity and fluidity.

The collection had a touch of effortless modernity – contemporary styles of evening wear, such as a nip-slip piece and tattoos combined with classic pieces in a palette consisting of black, blue, silver and dusty pink. Cleverly manipulated patterns, modern cuts with some sort of bondage-style straps to add that chic and edgy touch. Amanda Wakeley closed the show with two beautiful sheer silver pleated dresses that reminded us of skyscrapers turned into dreamy gowns.
